History

In honor of those members of the entertainment industry who helped make this union the organization that it is today, we dedicate this page to pay tribute.

From 1912 to present, IATSE local 251 has been providing skilled laborer’s for theatrical and stagecraft productions, trade shows, music, film, broadcast television, concerts and festivals.

2012 100th Anniversary Celebration

Today, our members bring production excellence to venues all across Southern Wisconsin, and beyond. We can be found locally as projectionists at the Sundance Theater, the Chazen Museum, MMOCA Madison Museum of Cultural Arts and the Wisconsin Film Festival. We are on Broadway with “Mama Mia!,” “Memphis,” and “The Addams Family.” We work with the New York City Opera. We are on the road with “Wicked,” “A Christmas Story,” “The Addams Family,” “Les Miserables,” “La Cage Aux Follies,” and “The Lion King.”

We are at the Overture Center for the Arts, the Alliant Energy Center, the Kohl Center, the Monona Terrace Community Convention Center, the Memorial Union Theatre, Orpheum Theater, and the Sylvee. We can be found across the United States. We bring our skills, talents, union training and traditions to faraway places including Ireland, Germany, England, Japan and Canada. Every time you look up in a theater and see an ETC Source Four®, you know that IATSE Local 251 is there in spirit.
